IN THE LIFE episodes are part of the collections of The Museum of Television and Radio in New York and Los Angeles. IN THE LIFE has received awards from the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, and the American Legion Auxiliary’s Heart of America Committee for “Outstanding Content and Quality.” IN THE LIFE also received an 2000 Emmy Award nomination for “Outstanding Educational Programming” and two 2003 Emmy Award nominations.
