Christian John Lillis joined IN THE LIFE in 2006 and was appointed Director of Development in April 2007. Christian is charged with revenue production for IN THE LIFE through various forms of philanthropy including, individual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation support, planned giving, and special events. He was previously Director of Major Gifts for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, where he oversaw a 58% increase in the number of major donors.
Prior to that, he spent five years at NYU Medical Center, as Associate Director of Development, the chief development officer for the Department of Ophthalmology's $1 million annual fund and the Ehrman Medical Library's $10 million capital fund. He also oversaw prospect research for the final phase of NYUMC's $750 million capital campaign.
Christian has contributed poetry to local journals, including Salonika and Bay Windows. He was also a contributor to Prospect Research: A Primer for Growing Nonprofits by Cecilia Hogan with David Lamb.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Theory from Brooklyn College.
A native New Yorker, Christian lives in Park Slope with his boyfriend and their "beagle baby" April.
