Everyday Lives

Everyday Lives joins Judy Shepard on the fifth anniversary of the murder of her son, Matthew Shepard, to uncover stories of hate crimes that are still being committed--but are not making headlines. One such story is that of 15-year-old Sakia Gunn, an African-American lesbian who was stabbed to death in a bias-motivated attack in Newark, New Jersey.

Real to Reel: Hell House

Real to Reel: Hell House features a haunted house in Dallas where a Pentecostal church is working to "scare the hell" out of 15,000 annual visitors. By acting out skits of "sins" in which the "sinners" die and demons drag them off to hell, the church aims to save souls and shape opinions.

Learning Curve

Learning Curve moves to Little Rock, Arkansas, where the administration of a public junior high school outs an 8th grader to his parents, preaches to him, forces him to study the bible, and suspends him for not keeping his punishment a secret.

Ich Bin...

Ich Bin? explores an international success story: the political evolution of Germany's gay rights, from Magnus Hirschfeld's Scientific Humanitarian Committee through the Paragraph 175 years and the Nazi era to a present day in which an openly gay man serves as Mayor of Berlin.

Sehakia

Sehakia searches out a silenced subculture: lesbian Muslims. From cultures that have traditionally allowed women little control over their lives and excluded homosexuals, ITL's four guests struggle to reconcile their religious, cultural, and sexual identities.
